Craft, Narrative, & Digital Media
Who We Are
The StoryCraft Lab conducts research at the intersection of computational craft and narrative as it exists in interactive digital media. As a group of students and faculty, we strive to educate, inspire, and challenge other makers to design with purpose and integrity.
Where a storyteller becomes a scientist;
a coder becomes a crafter.
What We Study
Computational Craft
We leverage parallels between crafting and computational thinking for Computer Science education.
Visual Semiotics & Representation
We craft various representations that draw upon visual semiotics from within both traditional designs and digital identities.
Creativity & Materiality
We explore possible roles of creativity and materiality in games and other playful interactions
Collaborative Storytelling
We utilize traditional collaborative storytelling techniques, such as tarot reading and table-top role-playing story creation, for the purpose of narrative generation.
